Both start with a short call and a straight answer on whether I am the right person for it.

// background
Developer, architect and team lead on business software, mostly in systems that could not be switched off while they changed. The examples are anonymised; the roles are the ones I actually had.
Complex PL/SQL business logic and data workflows moved into C#/.NET services with functional parity and transactional integrity, including reusable patterns for turning stored procedures, cursors and views into testable C# code, on a platform processing millions of records.
Analysis on site at a laboratory in Germany with the people who run it, redesign and simplification of the laboratory processes, the target architecture on .NET, leading a team of six to eight engineers, and a structured handover so the team continues on its own.
Configurable data sources and Word-based templates, metadata-driven processing and runtime type resolution, so one engine serves different Dynamics 365 applications and data structures.
Existing ERP workflows, database structures and Delphi business logic analysed first, then field operations, travel orders, route planning and retail functionality developed as web features on the same data.
Other domains along the way: high-performance distributed backend systems, manufacturing execution systems and their ERP, PLC and IoT integrations, a government tax platform, a gaming back office, and SAP Business One add-ons.

Part 2 of the locking series: the optimistic concurrency EF Core gives you for a rowversion column, measured under 50 concurrent transfers. How the token becomes a WHERE predicate, how to handle DbUpdateConcurrencyException without a stale change tracker, which retry policy does not stampede, and where a hot row breaks it.
Read the essay Oct 19, 2026Silo, pooled compute with siloed data, or one partitioned database: the layout sets the isolation boundaries. The leak is always the same mistake, a request that reached the data layer without knowing its tenant. Put the tenant id in the token, resolve it once at the edge, let the data layer apply it to reads and writes, and hand it explicitly to workers and jobs.
Read the essay Oct 2, 2026There is no best architecture. Every decision gives you something and takes something away. The price starts on day one, the benefit only when the need shows up. Why moving code to another server does not fix coupling.
